Founded in 1882, it is one of the oldest country clubs in the U.S. and a charter member of the USGA. It has hosted four U.S. Opens (1913, 1963, 1988, 2022) and the 1999 Ryder Cup; the 1913 win by local amateur Francis Ouimet is a landmark moment in American golf.
